Pattern Development & Customization for custom sportswear

01

Pattern Development & Customization

Your design, translated into a garment that fits

Start with a tech pack, reference garment or clear design brief. We review the silhouette, measurements, panel layout and construction details, then develop the pattern around your intended customer and sport.

From polo collars and sleeve shapes to pockets, waistbands and panel seams, the details are recorded before sampling. Size grading follows the agreed measurement chart so the collection has a consistent fit direction.

  • Custom silhouetteDefine your fit, panel shapes and garment proportions.
  • Construction detailsSpecify collars, closures, pockets, trims and seam placement.
  • Size gradingReview the measurement chart and size increments before production.
Fabric Selection & Material Sourcing for custom sportswear

02

Fabric Selection & Material Sourcing

Choose materials around performance, feel and construction

The right fabric supports both the design and the way the garment will be worn. Review jersey, piqué, fleece and stretch woven options for your polos, training pieces, outerwear and teamwear.

Compare composition, weight, stretch, recovery and surface feel using physical swatches. Functional finishes and material documentation should be confirmed for the actual fabric selected for your order.

Sampling & Fit Approval for custom sportswear

03

Sampling & Fit Approval

Review the garment before you commit to production

A physical sample gives you a practical way to assess fit, fabric and construction together. Review the measurements, movement, seam finish and branding on the intended garment rather than relying on a screen image alone.

Record your feedback clearly and agree revisions before bulk cutting. For a multi-size collection, discuss the size-set review and measurement tolerances so the approved specification is clear to everyone.

  • Physical fit sampleCheck the silhouette, measurements and comfort.
  • Documented revisionsRecord changes to fit, construction and materials.
  • Production referenceApprove the sample and specification before bulk work begins.
Cutting & Sewing Construction for custom sportswear

04

Cutting & Sewing Construction

A considered process from fabric panel to finished seam

Cutting begins with the approved pattern and material plan. Panel alignment, fabric direction and handling are reviewed so the garment can be assembled to the agreed design.

The seam and machine setup are selected around the fabric and intended use. Lockstitch, overlock and coverstitch constructions each serve different roles; cuffs, hems, zippers and stretch areas need their own finishing details.

  • Accurate panel cuttingReview pattern placement, fabric direction and panel matching.
  • Suitable seam constructionMatch stitch type and thread to the fabric and garment.
  • Consistent finishingDefine hems, cuffs, closures and trim attachment in the specification.

QUALITY ASSURANCE

Quality Checked Against
Your Approved Sample

Quality starts with the agreed specification. Review panel alignment, seam construction, garment measurements and finishing against the sample and the requirements recorded for your order.

Inspection checkpoints help identify issues during construction and before packing. Agree the measurement tolerances, appearance criteria, required tests and inspection scope as part of your production brief.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Cut & Sew Questions

Plan your development, sampling and production with a clear brief.

What does custom cut and sew include?

Cut and sew develops a garment from fabric panels using an agreed pattern and construction specification. The project can include pattern development, material selection, samples, assembly and finishing, with branding and packing requirements included in the brief.

Can you work from my tech pack or a reference garment?

Yes. Send the tech pack or reference with your measurements, material preferences and required changes. We review what information is available and confirm any details needed before sampling.

What is the minimum order quantity?

Minimums depend on style, fabric, colors, trims and size breakdown. Send your planned assortment and quantities so the applicable material and production minimums can be confirmed.

Can I approve a sample before bulk production?

Yes. Review the physical sample and measurement specification, document revisions, and approve the agreed production reference before bulk cutting begins.

Can you customize sizing and fit?

Provide your size chart or target fit and customer profile. The pattern and grading are developed around the agreed measurements; discuss a size-set review when several sizes are involved.

How much time should I allow for cut and sew sampling?

Sampling takes 7–15 days after the design specifications and materials are confirmed.

Can I add printing, embroidery and private labels?

Include all branding requirements in your brief. Printing, embroidery, labels and packaging can be coordinated with garment construction, subject to material suitability and approval of the relevant samples.
